Monday, March 9 - Depart from Atlanta, Georgia

Tuesday, March 10 – Arrive in Israel

We will take a short trip from the airport to the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel is located in the beautiful coastal city of Netanya for our first two nights. The first evening will be a relaxing time, resting and maybe strolling beside the Mediterranean.

Wednesday, March 11 – Project Nehemiah

In the morning, we will visit Project Nehemiah, a humanitarian outreach of IBJM. There we will participate in preparing and delivering packages to Jewish immigrants who have come to live in Israel. A wonderful time! In the afternoon, we will explore the ancient seaport city of Jaffa, the house of Simon the Tanner, and other sites around the greater Tel Aviv area. Overnight in Netanya.

Thursday, March 12 – Up to Galilee

We’ll drive northwards up the Mediterranean coast. First, we’ll visit ancient Caesarea Maritime, where the Gentiles first heard the Good News from Peter. From there we’ll visit Mount Carmel and Muhraka to witness the location of Elijah’s contest with Jezebel’s false prophets of Ba’al. Here we’ll be able to view the Jezreel Valley. We’ll then travel to Meggido, the site of 21 battles from the Old Testament and where the Book of Revelation prophesies the final battle between good and evil will take place. Here we’ll also get to explore Canaanite ruins and the “Chariot Cities” of Kings Solomon and Ahab. Overnight in Tiberius on the Sea of Galilee.

Friday, March 13 – To the North

Next on our stop is the Mount of Beatitudes where we’ll view the Natural Amphitheater where Jesus taught. We will then travel to the Dan Nature Preserve and view the rushing Headwaters of the Jordan River. Next, we will visit the Dan of the Old Testament, known as the “Hill of the Judge” to explore the incredible excavations and altar where the golden calf was worshipped by Israel under King Jeroboam. From there we’ll take a bus to Caesarea Philippi where Peter said to Jesus “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Next, we’ll drive to the Golan Heights where we’ll overlook the Jordan Valley and learn about the Golan Arab/Israel conflict (1948-1967). We’ll then see Mt. Hermon where our Lord was transfigured and drive along the ancient Damascus Road. Overnight in Tiberius.

Saturday, March 14 - Sea of Galilee

We’ll begin our day traveling west to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. We will visit the Nazareth Village - a wonderful re-creation of what the village would have looked like in biblical times, complete with costumed guides. We’ll visit Capernaum, home of the synagogue of Jesus’ ministry and miracles. Then we’ll take a cruise on the Sea of Galilee. We will visit Migdal, the home of Mary Magdalene and see the “Jesus Boat” at Kibbutz Nof Ginosar. Next, we’ll cross the Jordan River and visit Bethsaida, home of Peter, Andrew, James and John. Overnight in Tiberius.

Sunday, March 15 – To the Dead Sea

We’ll begin the Lord’s Day by traveling down to the Jordan River at Bethany beyond Jordan and have a service there. We will then visit Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered by a Bedouin shepherd. We’ll overlook the ancient oasis of Ein Gedi (the Goat’s Rocks), where David hid from King Saul. We will overnight on the shores of the Dead Sea, where you can experience floating in the salt sea, the lowest place on earth.

Monday, March 16 – Up to Jerusalem

The first stop is the ancient fortress of Masada on the Dead Sea. We’ll begin with a cable car ride to the mountain top. We will then make the trip up to Jerusalem. An interesting and educational time awaits us at the Israeli Museum. We will walk through collections of centuries-old Israeli artifacts, including the Dead Sea Scrolls. Then a guided walk through an accurately detailed model of biblical Jerusalem will help prepare you for what you will experience in the following days. We conclude the day with a visit to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, for a needed reminder of what the Jewish people have suffered.

Tuesday, March 17 – Jerusalem

Conditions permitting, we will visit the Temple Mount, with commentary on the Temple Periods and the variety of belief systems (past and present) that make this area so valuable. On our way into the city, we will visit the Wailing Wall and then the fascinating Rabbinical Tunnels leading us through the Second Temple era. The tunnel and exhibit give a clear understanding of the Temple Mount, giant stones, water supply and Roman street where our Lord was led to judgment. Before exiting the tunnel, we will see the immense cornerstone rejected by the builders. We’ll visit the Temple Institute to learn of the preparations being made for the rebuilding of the Temple, followed by a visit to the Burnt House for a wonderful presentation on the history of Jerusalem and its destruction by Rome.

Wednesday, March 18 – Jerusalem

Today we will walk where Jesus walked, beginning our day with a panoramic view of the city, Mount Moriah and the Dome of the Rock from atop the Mount of Olives and then the Garden of Gethsemane. To walk between the ancient olive trees, read the Scriptures of Jesus’ prayer and take time for personal reflection is important. From here we will also be able to see the Pool of Bethesda, Stephen’s Gate and the Church of Saint Anne. Our climax of the day will be the area of Golgotha (place of the skull) and the Garden Tomb, where we’ll celebrate the resurrection with communion and a time of praise. We have dinner before traveling to the airport for our overnight flight home.

Thursday, March 19 – Arrive home to the USA
