Day 1 – Wednesday, Feb. 10: Depart USA
Depart from Denver today for the flight to Tel Aviv.
Day 2 – Thursday, Feb. 11: Arrive Tel Aviv, Jaffa
Arrive in Tel Aviv late this afternoon. If time allows, enjoy a walking tour of Old Town Jaffa. Jaffa is where Peter had his vision of the white sheet containing all manner of animals while staying in the home of Simon the Tanner. Dinner and overnight in Netanya.
Day 3 – Friday, Feb. 12: Western Coastal Region

Begin the day with a visit to Caesarea Maritima, this Roman harbor city was built by Herod the Great. View the remains of the aqueduct, hippodrome, and theatre. Continue north to Mt. Carmel to the area where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal. Descend into the valley of Jezreel to Megiddo, known for its historical, theological and geographical importance, and especially as it is also known by its Greek name Armageddon. View of the Sea of Galilee from Tiberias road. Dinner and overnight in Galilee for the next three nights.
Day 4 – Saturday, Feb. 13: Nazareth
This morning we visit the Church in Cana. This is the area where Jesus performed His first miracle. Continue to Nazareth to visit Mary’s Well, the Church of the Annunciation and Mount Precipice. Visit Nazareth Village, a recreation of a first century village for a glimpse into the past. Next stop at the Magdala excavations, this is the town of Mary Magdalene. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. This evening, those who wish to will have an opportunity to be baptized in the Sea of Galilee.
Day 5 – Sunday, Feb. 14: Northern Galilee

After breakfast go to the Yigal Alon “Jesus Boat” Museum to see the remains of a first century fishing vessel found in the exposed lakebed during a severe drought in the 80’s. Next, enjoy a ride in a boat on the Sea of Galilee modeled after the first century vessels. This is a refreshing time for contemplation. Arrive at Capernaum and see a first century synagogue and the remains of the home of Peter’s mother-in-law. Continue to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached His message on the Kingdom of God. Walk downhill to the Church of the Loaves and Fishes in Tabgha and also visit the Church of St. Peter’s Primacy which marks the location of Peter’s reinstatement as an apostle following his denial of Christ in Jerusalem. Drive to Banias and enjoy a short hike through some lovely vegetation to the area of pagan worship. Banias was the area where Jesus and his disciples were when Christ asked, “Who do men say that I am?” Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – Monday, Feb. 15: Southern Galilee

Drive to Beth Shean which played an important role in history due to its location at the juncture of the Jordan and Jezreel Valleys. The walls of this Philistine city bore the bodies of King Saul and his sons upon their defeat by the Philistines. Continue to the area of Shechem to see Jacob’s Well, a site much revered by Jews, Muslims and Christians. Enter the church built over the site and see water drawn from this ancient well. Drive into the West Bank to visit Shiloh which was the worship center and location of the tabernacle before the temple construction in Jerusalem. Continue to Jericho to see the tel of this ancient city and hear about its destruction by the Israelites as they blew on their trumpets. At the end of the afternoon, we will make a brief stop at Qasr Al-Yahud which is believed to be the site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist; indeed, Bethany-beyond-Jordan is just across the river in Jordan. Continue on to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight for the next five nights.
Day 7 – Tuesday, Feb. 16: Jerusalem

Conditions permitting, our day begins with a trip up to the Temple Mount where the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock are located. Visit the Western Wall, which is assuredly part of the original retaining wall of the temple mount. Learn about the Western Wall Tunnel and see original foundation stones. In the Jewish Quarter, visit the Wohl Archaeological Museum, an excavated complex preserving a 385-foot section of the Upper City near the Temple Mount dating back 2,000 years. See the Cardo, the main thoroughfare during ancient times. Visit the Davidson Exhibition located next to the Dung Gate, a wonderful exhibition with rich archaeological content. Climb the Southern steps which we can be sure that Jesus and His disciples climbed. Continue to the City of David and visit the Pool of Siloam and Warren’s Shaft (which discovered the underground water system). This evening, we visit the Israel Museum to see the Shrine of the Book where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls are on display, and the Model of Jerusalem, a scale model of the city of Jerusalem as imagined about 70 AD.
Day 8 – Wednesday, Feb. 17: Dead Sea Area

Following breakfast, we head south toward the Dead Sea to visit the desert fortress of Herod the Great. Masada was also the last holdout of the Jewish Zealots in their revolt against Rome. Remains of the Roman siege encampment can still be seen. Hike through the oasis of En Gedi to the waterfalls. This is one of the areas where David would hide from King Saul. Continue to the beach for a swim in the Dead Sea where the mineral content is so high it is impos-sible to sink! Stop at Qumran to learn about the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls found in the caves. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 – Thursday, Feb. 18: Bethlehem, Jerusalem

This morning we drive towards Bethlehem and see the area of the Shepherds’ Fields on the way. Once there, visit the Church of Nativity which has been undergoing restorations to reveal beautiful mosaic artwork on the walls of the church. Returning to Jerusalem, we head to the Mount of Olives and visit the Church of Ascension. See the Church of Pater Noster where one will see the Lord’s Prayer in over 100 languages. Following the Palm Sunday route of Jesus’ triumphal entry, we continue to the Church of Dominus Flevit (the Lord weeps) for a view of the city, then move on to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed with His disciples. See the Church of All Nations which enshrines the rock said to be where Christ knelt in prayer the night of His arrest. The remainder of our afternoon is free to spend at our leisure; explore further on your own, try out some of the local cuisine, or do some shopping.
Day 10 – Friday, Feb. 19: Jerusalem

We start the day with a somber visit to Yad Vashem, the Jewish memorial to the Holocaust, before then following in our Savior’s footsteps of his death, burial, and glorious resurrection! Visit the church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the House of Caiaphas, which marks the location of Peter’s denial of Christ. Continue to the Upper Room built over the location where Jesus and His disciples met for the last supper. Stop to see the remains of the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed the paralytic man. Next door is St. Anne’s Church known for its amazing acoustics. Travel the Via Dolorosa making several stops along the way and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This afternoon we gather together at the Garden Tomb for a brief tour and a time to celebrate communion. A special farewell dinner is planned at the hotel this evening where we again overnight.
Day 11 – Saturday, Feb. 20: Return to USA
Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv this morning for the return flight home. Arrive in Denver later today.
