Day 1 – Monday, Sept. 29: Departure

We depart on our overnight flight to Shannon, Ireland. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the in-flight entertainment.


Day 2 – Tuesday, Sept. 30: Arrive Ireland, Cliffs of Mohr

On arrival we will be met by our motorcoach and tour escort. En route to the hotel, we will drive along the west coast of Ireland and enjoy a spectacular view of the Cliffs of Moher, which rise almost 700 feet and stretch for almost five miles. We arrive at our hotel in Limerick for check-in and some relaxation time before dinner at the hotel.


Day 3 – Wednesday, Oct. 1: Ring of Kerry

A wonderful day of sightseeing is in store for us today. As we follow the scenic drive around the Ring of Kerry we will enjoy sparkling seascapes, mountains dotted with farmhouses and the breathtaking panorama of the Lakes of Killarney. This will be followed by a carriage ride to Muckross Gardens and a photo stop at Ross Castle - some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. We enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before returning to our hotel this evening.


Day 4 – Thursday, Oct. 2: Our Lady of Knock, Galway

This morning we drive north to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. Visit Apparition Chapel and museum before taking part in noon Mass at the basilica. After having lunch at the shrine’s cafe, Café le Chéile (not included in tour cost), we journey back towards Limerick via the beautiful Connemara region. Stopping in Galway, on the shores of Galway Bay, we enjoy an introductory city tour and a visit to Galway Cathedral, one of the largest & most impressive buildings in Galway built between 1958 & 1965. Tonight we enjoy a special evening of Medieval dining and entertainment.


Day 5 – Friday, Oct. 3: Cashel, Glendalough, Dublin

We will depart Limerick this morning en route to Dublin. Along the way we will visit Cashel - site of St. Patrick's Cross and the Rock of Cashel, Waterford - for a tour of the famous crystal factory and Kilkenny - with its ancient town center, narrow medieval streets and merchant houses. As we arrive in beautiful Wicklow County, known as the “Garden of Ireland,” we will stop in Glendalough where we learn about the monastery founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and see the many ruins of churches and a round tower. We continue through the dramatic Wicklow Mountains to our hotel in Dublin for dinner and overnight.


Day 6 – Saturday, Oct. 4: St. Patrick

Today we will visit Downpatrick where Patrick first landed in 432 and is thought to be buried, and Armagh, considered to be the ecclesiastical center of Ireland and home of two St. Patrick's Cathedrals-one Roman Catholic and one Protestant. We will return to Dublin for dinner at your hotel.


Day 7 – Sunday, Oct. 5: Glasgow, Oban

This morning we will tour the city of Dublin, including St. Patrick's Cathedral and Dublin Castle, founded in the 13th century. Tour the State Apartments, dating from the Georgian period and containing period furniture and brilliant Waterford crystal chandeliers. In the afternoon, we will fly to Glasgow, Scotland. Dinner will be in Glasgow prior to traveling to our hotel in Oban for check in.


Day 8 – Monday, Oct. 6: Isles of Mull

We will begin the day with a ferry ride to the Isles of Mull and Iona. At Iona, known as the Cradle of Scottish Christianity, we will see the restored monastery and cathedral originally founded by St. Columba in 583. After arriving back in Oban, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.


Day 9 – Tuesday, Oct. 7: Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle

We will travel across Scotland today, stopping along the majestic shores of Loch Lomond in The Trossachs National Park, where we enjoy a beautiful view of the loch aboard a cruise. We then continue on to Stirling Castle, historically one of Scotland's most important fortresses and site where Robert the Bruce defeated the English. Finally, we arrive in Edinburgh and check into our hotel, where we will lodge for the last two evenings of our trip. Dinner will be served at the hotel.


Day 10 – Wednesday, Oct. 8: Edinburgh, St. Andrews

We begin with a city tour of Edinburgh which takes us to the historic sites of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, the Queen’s Holyrood Palace and points out the Royal Mile. In the afternoon we travel St. Andrews whose Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754, has given us the rules of golfing. Stroll through the town, walk along the North Sea jetties that border the manicured fairways and visit the ruins of the cathedral, first built in 1158. The cathedral was the center of Catholicism in Scotland during the Middle Ages. We return to Edinburgh for dinner at our hotel.


Day 11 – Thursday, Oct. 9: Homeward

We transfer back to Glasgow for our return flight to the USA.
