Day 3 – Sunday, May 31, 2026

Founded 3,300 years ago, Istanbul uniquely spans two continents—Europe and Asia—separated by the Bosphorus Strait. Our exploration of the Old City begins at the architectural masterpiece, the 17th-century Blue Mosque, renowned for its exquisite turquoise tiles. This timeless shrine served as the prayer place for Ottoman Sultans until the empire’s dissolution after World War I. Opposite the mosque stands the Hagia Sophia, constructed by Emperor Justinian the Great in the 6th century. With its massive 176-foot dome and golden mosaics, Hagia Sophia remains a breathtaking monument. In the afternoon, we will visit the Spice Bazaar, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar, a vibrant covered market that has been Istanbul’s center for the spice trade since the 17th century. Following this, we embark on a Bosphorus cruise, admiring views of historic wooden mansions, Ottoman palaces, and ancient fortresses lining the shores. The day concludes with dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 – Monday, June 1, 2026

After breakfast, transfer to Istanbul Airport for your flight to Antalya. Upon arrival, we will tour the harbor area and old city, possibly including a local guest speaker. Dinner and overnight in Antalya.

Following breakfast, we visit the archaeological site of Perge, a principal city of Pamphylia visited twice by Paul the Apostle and his companion St. Barnabas (Acts 13:13–14; 14:25). Here, we explore the extensive ruins, including a well-preserved theatre, the Agora, colonnaded boulevard, Roman baths, gymnasium, necropolis, memorial fountain, and the Greek and Roman gates. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Next, we proceed to Aspendos, home to the best-preserved ancient theatre. Additional highlights include the remains of a basilica, agora, nymphaeum, Roman aqueduct, and the Roman Eurydome Bridge. We then visit Antalya’s Museum of Archaeology, renowned for its rich collections of Mediterranean archaeological and ethnographic artifacts. Dinner and overnight in Antalya.

Day 6 – Wednesday, June 3, 2026

After breakfast, we travel to Yalvac to visit the remains of the ancient city Antioch in Pisidia, where St. Paul first “turned to the Gentiles.” Afterwards, we continue to Pamukkale for dinner and overnight.

Today’s visit includes Pamukkale, the “Cotton Castle,” where we will enjoy the thermal waters cascading over the unique white travertine terraces. We also explore the archaeological site of Hierapolis, an important early Christian center influenced by Paul’s missionary work (Colossians 4:13). Hierapolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was famed for its healing thermal pools. Among the ruins are well-preserved Roman structures such as the theatre and Temple of Apollo. We then continue to the ancient city of Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches mentioned in Revelation (3:14-22), notable for its stadium, gymnasium, and theatres. Finally, we visit Colossae, recipient of Paul’s letter to the Colossians, although largely unexcavated and in ruins. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.

Continuing to Miletus, visited by Paul during his third missionary journey, we then proceed to Ephesus, where Paul preached for two years. Our route also includes Priene, renowned for Hellenic art and architecture and once home to Alexander the Great. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

We will also visit the ruins of St. John’s Basilica, built by Justinian I in the 6th century over the believed burial site of John the Apostle. Following this, shopping in Selcuk and transfer to Izmir to visit ancient Smyrna, where Bishop Polycarp was martyred. Dinner and overnight in Izmir.

Day 10 – Sunday, June 7, 2026

Today’s journey takes us to Sardis, an ancient city renowned for its military strength and wealth, yet described as spiritually “dead” in Revelation (3:1-6).
