Day 1: Departure from Galveston
We depart this
evening from Galveston.
Costa Maya, Mexico
Spend your time floating in the blue-green waters of the fresh-water
Bacalar Lagoon, exploring Rio Huach National Park via airboat, or
kayaking along the pristine coastline in a see-through-bottomed boat.
See lizards that run upright on their hind legs, brilliantly colored
macaws and parrots, and a reef that rivals the size and diversity of the
Great Barrier Reef. Located in the Bay of Islands of Honduras,
Roatan offers a unique and distinctly Caribbean experience.
Belize City, Belize
Tucked away on the Yucatan Peninsula, this is the spot to explore
ancient Mayan ruins, trek through a rain forest and take a
once-in-a-lifetime canopy tour. Or visit a sanctuary created to
care for now-thriving howler monkeys.
Archaeology buffs will have a field day touring Tulum on the Yucatan
Peninsula. Nature lovers can get up close and personal with
dolphins at Chankanaab National Marine Park and shoppers can browse the
shops for hand-painted Talavera pottery.
