Historic & Cultural Honolulu

This excursion encompasses what are perhaps Hawaii's most important cultural sights. Departing from the pier, drive directly to Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial Visitor center where you will a motor launch will take you to the Arizona Memorial. During your visit to the Memorial, enjoy a narrative, as well as the many fascinating exhibits of the Visitor's Center. You'll see the old and new sights of downtown Honolulu, such as Chinatown, the financial district of downtown Honolulu. On the outskirts you will see the unique volcanic-shape State Capitol. Stop at the statue of Kamehameha, Hawaii's last ruling King, see the Iolani Palace, residence of Hawaiian monarchy and the only royal palace located in the United States. You'll see the state's first church, Kawaiahao and Washington Place, the oldest continuously occupied residences on the island. You'll drive through the Punchbowl National Cemetery. Set in an extinct volcano, the cemetery is in honor of America's fallen heroes from WWI, WWIII, Korea and Vietnam wars. On the drive to the airport, relax and enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Panoramic Honolulu

Volcanic Coastal Tour

Including: This excursion starts with a drive to Diamond Head Crater, where your guide will explain the origins and history of this world famous landmark. You will learn about the crater's bird and plant species before traveling along Oahu's southern coast to beautiful Hanauma Bay. Next stop is the famous blowhole at Halona Point, where seawater is forced through a volcanic vent to erupt as a huge fountain. From Makapu'u Lookout, a panoramic view awaits. Your guide will explain the volcanic origins of this area and provide additional facts of interest. Stop at an incredible Hawaiian archaeological site and former war temple, where your nature guide will explain many of the early Hawaiian's important food plants. The final highlight will be the Pali Lookout, located high in the Ko'olau Mountain Range on windswept cloud-covered cliffs.

Waimea Falls Park - Journey to the Past

Including: Waimea Valley is a virtual Garden of Eden, the Hawaii you came to see, the dream of what Hawaii should be. Your incredible day in paradise begins with a scenic drive. You will pass by pineapple fields, coffee fields and the Dole Plantation. You will also pass the world-renowned North Shore featuring the famous surfing spot - Pipeline. You will continue along the famous North Shore with some of the world's largest rideable waves. Upon arrival to Waimea, you'll be greeted by a friendly host who will provide an overview of the park. Inside the valley are a number of archaeological sites that have been subject to extensive excavation and investigation. Waimea Falls Park has been the location for Disney's "George of the Jungle", 90210, Baywatch Hawaii, MTV Road Rules and House of Style. The most popular attraction at Waimea is the world class acrobatic cliff diving show at the waterfall. Diving from heights up to 60 feet, expert cliff divers execute triple somersaults, the swan dive and other feats to a background of live, soft Hawaiian music. Other attractions within the park include modern and ancient forms of Hula dancing, ancient Hawaiian game sites, a world class botanical garden and arboretum, walking tours and much more. If you feel like taking a swim or sunning on famous Waimea Beach, it's right across the road.

Those choosing to swim at the beach are cautioned that the waves in the winter months could be extremely large and dangerous. Please exercise caution and keep children above the high tide line. Lifeguards are on duty. You will need a towel and swimsuit.


The Great Hawaiian Outrigger Racing Challenge

Including: The sport of outrigger canoe racing is hugely popular in Hawai'i. So popular in fact, that the State of Hawai'i has proclaimed it the official state sport. Now you can experience the thrill of racing an outrigger canoe as you catch waves with your teammates and your expert outrigger canoe captain. Your event begins with a shell lei greeting. You will then be assigned to teams and given your team shirts. Each team will have a team captain, an experienced outrigger canoe paddler. Your captain will provide you with basic paddling instruction and safety information as well as acquaint you with the history and traditions related to the outrigger canoe. You will then board your outrigger canoe for an experience of a lifetime! A conch shell is blown signaling the start of the race and you're off! After your thrilling race, the victors and all participants will share in a celebratory toast. You will then participate in an awards ceremony where the victors will receive a ribbon and all team members will receive a certificate for participating in the Outrigger Challenge. 

Note: Participants should wear swimsuits under clothing and sunscreen. It is recommended that you bring sunglasses, a hat and a towel. Participants must be competent swimmers, 10 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult if under 18 years of age. No other special skills are required, but the activity level is high, conditions permitting. You may choose to stay on Waikiki Beach following the race; however, return transportation will be your responsibility. Participation of at least 12 guests is required.


Sea Life Park

Swim with the Dolphins

Dolphin Encounter

Hawaiian Stingray Encounter

Walk with Sharks - Underwater Photo Safari

Each photograph -total of eight- taken by guests on this underwater safari will be given to you as a complimentary souvenir gift. As you seek out different creatures to photograph keep a sharp eye out for the Hawaiian State fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Surfing Lessons on Waikiki Beach

Including: Surf's up and you will be "hanging ten" in no time. Your experience begins with a short ride to famous Waikiki Beach where you will be greeted by the Waikiki "Beach Boys". These expert surfers will first instruct you on land before you paddle out to ride your first wave! After your lessons, feel free to practice on the surfboard provided. Then relax on the beach for a while. You may choose to return to the ship on the transportation provided or stay on your own to enjoy Waikiki Beach or do a little shopping. 

Note: Please wear a swimsuit, sunscreen as well as sunglasses that cannot fall off. Bring a towel and water. Lifeguards are on duty. Participants must be good swimmers, in good physical condition and over 16 years of age. If under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.


Historic Kona

Including: Departing from the pier you'll drive through the small resort port town of Kailua-Kona, sit back and enjoy the sights as your tour takes you past many Heiau, or ancient temples, before pausing at Keauhou Bay. Here, you will have time to photograph the rugged shoreline and perhaps admire the very small St. Benedict's ¨Painted Church¨. This is the oldest Catholic Church on the island, constructed in 1875. The church is known for its colorful murals depicting biblical scenes. Continue on to Kealakekua Bay, where you will stop to visit the Captain Cook Monument marking the spot where Captain Cook was killed in 1779. While in the area of Napoopoo, a stop is at the Kona Coffee Factory is a must. You will be warmly welcomed into the spotless facilities of the factory where a demonstration on the processing of the coffee bean will take place. Enjoy sipping the flavorful coffee during this presentation. A final stop on this journey is at the scenic Place of Refuge at Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Park, which served as a political and religious asylum.


Kona and the Parker Ranch

Including: As you drive through the small resort port town of Kailua-Kona, your professional guide will point out many of the important historic sights. Pause at the Mokuáikaua, the first Christian church erected at Kailua by the American missionaries who first landed in Hawaii in 1820. Drive past the Hulihe'e Palace, which was the summer home of Hawaiian royalty. Following the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, you'll pass by the resort area of South Kohala and Waikoloa, continue towards North Kohala and the area known as Kawaihae. Here, you will visit the ancient Royal Heiau called Pu´ukohola, now a Historic National Park and said to have been built by the Great King Kamehameha. Walking the grounds of these dramatic remnants you will certainly be transported back in time. Leaving the coastal region of the island you will begin the drive up the now verdant slopes of the dormant volcano Mauna Kea. Arrive in Waimea, known as Kohala cattle country, hub of sprawling ranch lands, a paniolo (cowboy) town with attitude. Founded over 150 years ago by John Palmer Parker, he began with only two acres of land granted by King Kamehameha III, it now consists of some 220,000 acres. Enjoy a stop at the Parker Ranch Visitor Center, where you will enjoy displays detailing the fascinating history of life as it was in the early years on the Ranch. Next, visit Mana, the Parker's original koa wood cabin and its later replacement, Pu´u´opelu filled with precious art works and Venetian glass collected by Parker heirs. Your return to the pier will be via the scenic Mamalahoa Highway.


Historic Kailua Village Walking Tour

Including: Among the modern town full of restaurants and shops, you'll find many historical sites from Kailua's colorful past. You'll hear stories from High Chief Umi's arrival and rule from Kailua in the 1500's, to the days of Kamaehameha the Great who united the Hawaiian Islands and governed from Kailua village until his death in 1819. You'll see Mokuaikaua Church, rebuilt in 1836 from a pili gras hale to the lava stone and coral lime building, which now stands on that site. You'll also visit beautiful Hulihe'e Palace, a summer retreat for HAWAI'I royalty, built in 1837. You will learn about the history and people of Kailua village, former playground of Kings and new home to the world famous Billfish Tournament and the Ironman Triathlon World Championship.

Historic Kona by Horse-Drawn Carriage

Kailua Glass-Bottom Boat

Atlantis Submarine Adventure

Paniolo Horseback Riding

You will be greeted by the Hawaiian wranglers who will insure you are fitted with proper riding equipment. Kohala Mule Trail Adventure

Including: Riding a mule is easy and fun. Add in spectacular scenery and awesome guides and you'll saddle up for a ride of a lifetime. Your naturalist guide will meet you at the pier for a 1-½ hour scenic drive through the historic plantation towns in North Kohala to the Mule Station at the Pololu Valley Lookout for a brief orientation and safety talk. From there you ride up the slopes through a section of the historic Kohala Ditch Trail amidst exotic guava trees, towering ironwoods, and native ohia-lehua trees. Enjoy astounding 360-degree views that encompass vistas up the mountain, along Kohala's dramatic coastline, and of Maui's Haleakala volcano. Along the way you'll cross two exciting streams and stop at two waterfall overlooks. And of course, your guide will entertain and educate you all along about this very special places natural and cultural history. 

Note: Dress in long pants and short sleeved shirt, sturdy shoes and a light jacket. Trails can be wet, muddy and steep in areas. Participants must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult if under 18. Weight limit is 240 lbs. Riders must be able to let themselves on and off the animals and be physically fit and capable of riding on a saddled animal for three hours.


Kona Cloud Forest Botanical Walk

Including: A surprisingly short distance from the arid coast is a lush forest on the slopes of the sleeping volcano called Hualalai. There we find a private and very special sanctuary that nurtures plants, birds, and the human spirit with its peaceful isolation. The walk begins and ends at the landowner's private lodge. Decks and lanai with exotic caged birds are used for the initial orientation, and for the snack and walk's end. You'll be outfitted and led through forest on pathways over natural surfaces, including grass, moss, roots, soil and some rock. Length of walk is approximately 1-½ miles at a leisurely pace with informative stops. Forest hikers will experience the cool weather typical of a higher elevation of 3,000 feet and the shade of the forest. 

Note: A long-sleeved top, lightweight long pants or shorts are recommended. Sturdy covered shoes are necessary. Light packs, rainwear and walking sticks are provided. Participants must be in good health, capable of comfortably walking 1-1/2 mile on uneven natural surfaced paths with up and down slopes.


Kamanu Catamaran Sail & Snorkel

Including: Sit back and enjoy the tranquility as light winds fill the Kamanu's sails and it glides over Kona's brilliant blue waters. Captain Zodiac Raft & Snorkel Adventure

Including: This tour takes you on a raft to Kealakekua Bay, site of the Captain Cook Monument and the only marine sanctuary on the Big Island of Hawaii. Valley Waterfall Hiking Adventure

Drive up through old sugarcane fields to the trailhead of the Kohala Ditch Trail, where you'll begin your fairly level and easy 3-mile walk, nestled in a lush, forested valley with beautiful waterfalls. The trail is carved into the cliffside, a thousand feet above the valley floor and passes over footbridges and hidden water tunnels. Your guide will share with you his knowledge about the area's natural, cultural and geologic history. View five different waterfalls en-route to Kapaoloa Falls, which cascades 500 feet over the trail to the valley below. On your return to the ship, you will stop for a picnic lunch.

Including: Waimea Canyon is widely known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, and it is certainly offers more than just a view, it is an experience to treasure. On this excursion you will become acquainted with the charming southwestern shore and the incredible Waimea Canyon. Departing from the old port of Nawiliwili, you will drive through the island's main town of Lihue and pass by the beautiful area of Kauai known as Koloa, famous for its acres of sugar cane fields and the wide variety of tropical flowers. Continuing along the island's one main highway, you'll enjoy panoramic views of small villages such as Oma´o, Kalaheo and Hanapepe, as well as Kauai's rugged landscape such as, "Queen Victoria's Profile" said to resemble the famed queen. Wailua River & The Fern Grotto

Depart from the small harbor of Nawiliwili, while your guide introduces you to the main sights of Lihue Town. You'll drive up the main road, heading north along the dramatic coastline. Upon arrival at the Wailua marina, your guide will direct you to your waiting motor launch to begin your journey up the river, a full narration will be given as to the many varieties of plant and wild life in the area. You'll get a snorkeling lesson and be free to swim and snorkel on the reef. You will have a chance to dry off before returning to the ship. 

Note: Wear your swimsuit under comfortable clothing and covered shoes for biking, a windbreaker, waterproof sunscreen, hat, and bring a towel. The bike, helmet, day-pack, and snorkeling gear will be provided. Must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by an adult if under 18 years old.


Waterfall Hiking Excursion

Explore and hike on exclusive private land on the beautiful North Shore of Kaua'i. You will be able to hike through lush native flora and fauna and swim in a picturesque waterfall. Begin with a narrated drive to the Princeville Ranch near the famous Hanalei Bay. Your moderate four-hour tour begins with a hike to the ranch lookout point where a breathtaking 360-degree view awaits you. Green, lush mountains, crystal blue ocean, some of the most spectacular views of the entire North Shore. Trekking onward, a short hike through pasturelands leads you into lush tropical paradise. Learn about the native and introduced plants as you descend to a beautiful cascading 100-foot waterfall. There you can swim, take pictures under the falls, relax and enjoy the scenery and a delicious lunch before heading back to the ranch and your ship. Notes: Wear your swimsuit under comfortable clothing and hiking or tennis/running shoes. Bring a towel, waterproof sunscreen and hat. Backpacks and waist packs, rain ponchos, insect repellent, souvenir water bottle, binocular use and walking sticks are included. Hule'ia River Kayak Adventure

Kayak down the Hule'ia, a beautiful and historic jungle stream, site of films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park and Lost World. It's a delightful 45-minute downwind paddle, about two miles in length. Your kayaking adventure begins with a short drive to the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. You will go through the Hule'ia National Wildlife Refuge, a place for the preservation of endangered Hawaiian water birds. You will also paddle pass the Alakoko (Menehune) Fishpond, a living archaeological site. The backdrop to all this fun is the magnificent Ha'upu Mountain Range. After paddling downwind you will leave your kayaks behind and set out on a ½-mile round trip guided nature walk through a pristine tropical rain forest. Your destination will be a 'secret place', where you will have snacks and cold drinks and enjoy the scenery before heading down to the river for a relaxing trip back in a double-hulled powered Hawaiian canoe to your awaiting van and your return drive to the ship.

River Kayak and Hiking Adventure

This is a great trip for almost everyone. You'll meet your guide for a safety briefing, he'll fit you with the proper gear and instruct you on kayak techniques. You'll paddle down the Hulei'a River for a little over an hour, while your experienced guide shares information about the history of the legendary Menehune Fishpond located in the Hulei'a National Wildlife Refuge, as he points out some of the flora and fauna of the area. You'll stop for locally baked cookies and fresh fruit juice before continuing on a short hike through a lush tropical forest, full of interesting plants. As you exit the forest, an air-conditioned van will be awaiting to drive you back to the starting point. Along the way, relax and enjoy the view not visible from the river. 

Note: Comfortable clothing is recommended shoes that you don't mind getting wet or muddy, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat. Participants should be in good health, able to stand and walk on uneven surfaces. Must be over three years of age and not weigh over 265 pounds.


Napali Explorer

Board the 48-foot adventure raft, the Napali Explorer, for a memorable journey along Kauai's majestic NaPali Coast. Cruise past Polihale State Park to NaPali's majestic towering sea cliffs and hanging valleys. Your captain will talk about the area's history and culture while he takes you partially into sea caves and under cascading waterfalls, sea conditions permitting. Enjoy swimming and snokeling on the clear waters of a protected reef teeming with fish, coral formations, sea turtles and other marine life. Back on board, you'll be served a deli-style lunch before heading back to the ship. 

Note: Please wear your swimsuit under very casual clothing. Bring towel, sunscreen, visor or hat. Captain has sole discretion on tour routing based on weather and sea conditions. SeaFun Beach Snorkel
Duration: 3 1/2 hours

This is a beach trip that is very personalized and great for all levels of swimmers. The snorkeling site, in calm water inside a reef, will be chosen based on daily ocean and weather conditions. After being outfitted with equipment, including wetsuits, you will receive full instructions and begin snorkeling in a protected area with no more than six persons per guide. Your guides are marine life experts and will tell you about the fish and coral you see. You may even have a chance to encounter green sea turtles. Drinks and snacks are provided.
