Northern part of India - Ladakh, Himachal and Garhwal Himalayas offers most picturesque and exotic trekkings in the world.

Garhwal Himalayas - Garhwal is a land of legends and mythology. Entire Garhwal region is quite panoramic right from the foothills of Himalayas beginning with the spiritual cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh(known as tourist paradise) all along the river Ganges right upto the source. The treks can be divided into 3 categories -

Soft Treks - Trekking through one village to another staying overnight with the villagers. This will be soft trek.

Moderate trek takes you through the high mountain meadows of flowers through tribal villages, mountain shepherds, mountain lakes with ample opportunity for trout fishing, ancient holy shrines and view of snow capped peaks.

High Altitude treks covers high mountain passes, glaciers with a breathtaking closer view of Majestic Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dunagiri, Shivling etc.(6000 to 8000 meters).

The duration of treks can be from 7 days to 18 days. Treks on the lower Himalayas can be done round the year and for higher Himalayas the best time is April to October.

Skiing and Wild life tours are other popular adventure activities in the Garhwal Hinalayas.

Ladakh(Mini Tibet) being a mountain desert(moonland) very thinly inhabited with centuries old monasteries and with small hamlets reminds of the ancient influence of Tibetean culture. Most of the treks are of Moderate to Hard grade and are done with the help of ponies. The duration of treks could be from 8 to 20 days - and can be done from Himachal Pradesh or from Leh between April to October.
