Egypt Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month for an Egypt tour?

You can take one of our Egypt tours during any season as the weather is fairly consistent with little rain. We offer a wide range of tour dates so you can find a tour that fits your schedule. If you want to avoid extreme summer temperatures, consider visiting during the months of October-May when the weather cools down a bit. You may also want to avoid peak traveling months — especially if you want to avoid large crowds during your trip to Egypt. We recommend Egypt travel tour packages year round but you have to like the heat to travel in the summer.

How many days do you need for an Egypt tour?

We offer several different types of Egypt tour packages, so you can decide what you want to see and how much time you want to spend in Egypt. Our Classic Egypt Nile Cruise tour is available year-round and takes 9 to 11 days depending on the package you choose. Our Exodus tour is our most extensive package trip to Egypt, lasting for 24 days and giving you an opportunity to see Egypt, Jordan and Israel. You can scroll down to the bottom of our Egypt tours page to find a full list of the tours we offer in this region.

What is the dress code in Egypt?

When you’re packing for Greece or Jordan tours, you need to consider the climate and dress code of the country. Egypt doesn’t have an especially strict dress code, but both men and women are expected to dress modestly to some degree. Look for clothing made from lighter fabrics like cotton, linen or wicking material that provide sun protection while keeping you cool on hot days.

Is there a lot of walking involved on an Egypt Tour?

From our Turkey tours to tours of Egypt, we offer several tour packages for every destination. Some of our tours involve more walking than others but you should be prepared to walk a few miles each day. You can check out our tour packages to learn more about the destinations you’ll visit, how you’ll travel and more. Bringing a comfortable pair of shoes will make your trip to Egypt a lot better — especially if you choose a tour package that involves a lot of walking.

What passport & visa information do I need for your Egypt tours?

When you take one of our Europe tours, it’s important to make sure you have all of your passport and visa information sorted out before booking a tour. Applying for a passport can take anywhere from several weeks to several months, so get that out of the way ahead of time. Egypt requires a passport that is valid for 6 months beyond your scheduled return date. When you arrive in Egypt, you can get a single-entry 30-day tourist visa from the airport for $25.

What common languages will be spoken during your Egypt tours?

Arabic is the most common language spoken in Egypt, but our tour guides speak English as well. Our expert tour guides can take you to some of the most popular biblical and historical sites in Egypt, explaining the historical significance of each location and giving you an insider experience in one of the most historically significant countries in the world.

What currency can I use on an Egypt tour?

Whether you’re taking a tour of Egypt or one of our Costa Rica tours, it’s smart to carry the currency of the country you’re visiting. The Egyptian pound is the most commonly used currency in Europe, although many shops will also accept USD. When booking tours in Greece or Egypt, take a moment to visit a currency exchange and get the right currency.

Do I need to bring a convertor for the Egypt tour?

Like many parts of the world, Egypt uses different power plugs and sockets. When you book a package trip to Egypt, you should bring type C and type F socket adaptors. These adaptors allow you to plug in your devices anywhere in the country — including phone and tablet chargers.

What is the time zone for your Egypt tours?

Egypt operates on Eastern European Standard Time (EET), which is also used in parts of Greece, Lithuania and Finland. The EET time zone is 10 hours ahead of the Pacific time zone that the west coast of the United States uses, and 7 hours ahead of the United States Eastern time zone.

What climate should I expect during your Egypt tours?

Like most countries in Northern Africa, Egypt is a mostly arid region that can get extremely hot during the summer. No matter which of our Egypt travel packages you choose, you can expect warm weather compared to many parts of the world. During the summer, extreme temperatures can be difficult for visitors to adapt to. This is why — unlike our Prague tour — we recommend booking your Egypt tour outside the summer months unless you really enjoy warm weather climates.
