Our Nations Capital


A Christian Perspective 6 Day Tour 


Day 1 • Arrival 
We arrive in the District of Columbia today by mid-afternoon to check-in to our hotel. After settling in, we will board our coach for a welcome dinner followed by an Evening Illuminated Monument Tour with a local step-on guide. Our tour features the Marine Corps War Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Kennedy Center, Korean War Veterans Memorial beautifully illuminated by the evening moonlight.

Day 2 • Capitol Hill 
Following a full American breakfast buffet at the hotel, we will proceed into Washington, D.C. to meet with our step-on guide as we explore our Capital from a Christian perspective. Our four hour tour this morning which will include The Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial will allow us to experience Washington, D.C. from a unique perspective. Following our tour, lunch on own at Old Post Office Pavilion before having some free time to explore the explore National Mall area. This area includes the museums of the Smithsonian Institutions featuring the National Air & Space Museum, National Museum of American History, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Museum of African Art, and National Museum of Natural History. Next, we visit the Arlington National Cemetery, final resting place for President John F. Kennedy and thousand of soldiers from every major U.S. war. Also located on these famous 612 acres are Arlington house, home of Gen. Robert E. Lee and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. Dinner this evening in a downtown restaurant before returning to hotel.

Day 3 • Mount Vernon
Our morning begins after breakfast with a trip to George Washington's Mount Vernon and the opportunity to learn more about our 1st President's family life, and the gardens and grounds he designed. After our house tour, we will enjoy lunch at the Mt. Vernon Inn located on the grounds. As we head back to D.C., a step-on guide will join us for a local tour of Olde Towne Alexandria to include Christ Church, the Old Presbyterian Meeting House, and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Shop, run for five generations by a Quaker family. Free time will then be given in Alexandria for shopping and dinner on own before returning to our hotel for the evening.

Day 4 • PA Dutch Country
We leave the hustle and bustle of the city to travel Lancaster, PA for a PA Dutch tour. Upon our arrival, our local guide who will take us on a fascinating tour of the surrounding Pennsylvania Dutch Country in which we learn about the rich heritage and traditions unique to this area. We visit an actual Amish Farm & House with an informative tour through an original 1805 farmhouse furnished as an Old Order Amish home of today. Lunch at one of the many fine restaurants in the area servicing Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. A stop at the Kitchen Kettle Village allows time to pick up authentic PA Dutch foods and crafts. The highlight of our day will be a late afternoon performance of the current production running at the Sight and Sound Millennium Theatre. Dedicated to bringing Biblical Stories to life on stage, the theatre has Behold the Lamb, Noah the Musical, and The Miracle of Christmas scheduled for the 2004 season. Light dinner on own after performance before returning to hotel in Washington, D.C.

Day 5 • National Cathedral
Begin our day with meeting our local guide who will provide us with a four hour tour from the Christian perspective of The National Cathedral, Embassy Row, The Church of the Presidents, The Kennedy Center, and Georgetown. This tour will provide us with an appreciation of what our leaders have achieved in laying the foundations of our government. After our tour, stay in Georgetown for some lunch and shopping on own. This afternoon, group will be transported to the downtown area surrounding the National Mall Area. Free time will be given to explore sites of one's choice, such as the International Spy Museum, dedicated to international espionage. This new museum explores the craft, practice, history and contemporary role of espionage. Or take time to tour the Ford's Theater National Historic Site where President Abraham Lincoln was fatally shot in 1865 and the Peterson House, home where President Lincoln died. If time permits, you may wish to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum commemorating the millions who suffered and died at the hands of the Nazi regime. Dinner in downtown area before returning to hotel for the evening. An optional evening activity, such as performances at the Kennedy Center, the Arena Stage, MCI Centre, or Ford's Theatre can be added based on theater schedules and group's interests. 

Day 6 • Return Home 
After our breakfast at the hotel and checking out, it will be time to depart our nation's capital for our return trip home.
