American Hawaii Cruise
"SS Independence"
Day 1 MAINLAND DEPARTURE
We depart this morning for the Pacific state of Hawaii. At
Kahului Airport, we are greeted in the traditional Polynesian style,
with a warm "aloha" and a lei of fresh flowers. After we board
our ship, take advantage of the many amenities on board our
"floating hotel" or seek out a deck chair and relax as the
lush, tropical scenery of Maui passes by.
Day 2 MAUI
The Valley Isle of Maui is a premier vacation destination yet still
retains most of its lush wilderness. The sunrise at Haleakala is a once
in a lifetime experience, which earns its name "House of the
Sun". Haleakala dominates the island at some ten thousand feet
above sea level, making the ancient volcano one of the earth's tallest.
Stroll along the spectacular beaches, wade in the warm waters or explore
the colorful coral reefs surrounding the island.
Day 3 HILO
Today we dock at the "Big Island",
Hawaii, home of the world's
most active volcano. The island also boasts Mauna Kea (the world's
tallest mountain, counting the portion below the surface of the sea),
four huge cattle ranches and more gorgeous flowers than you can imagine.
The entire day will be spent in Hilo, the island's largest city. Among
the many adventures one can encounter include a helicopter ride to the
formations of Pele, the waterfalls of Hilo, Volcanoes National Park or
the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden.
Day 4 KONA
Back on the "Big Island", we'll spend the day in Kona. Kona's
coastal beaches and lava flows call to both the adventurous and those
seeking peace and quiet. Take in this historic city on a horse-drawn
carriage ride or walking tour. Peer into the deep blue waters aboard a
glass-bottom boat or from the Atlantis Submarine. Kona also offers a
more introspective look of the islands at its peaceful sanctuaries of
flowers, plants and birds.
Days 5 & 6 HONOLULU
The capital city of the state is located on Oahu, also known as the
"Gathering Place". Honolulu is a blend of towering skyscrapers
and little grass shacks, all etched into a South Pacific setting. Here
you'll have a wide array of excursions to choose from including the USS
Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, the Paradise Cove Luau, or the Hawaii
Maritime Museum. Don't miss the Polynesian Cultural Center in Lai. Here
you can view fascinating replicas of Polynesian and Melanesian villages,
watch demonstrations of dances and crafts, and even stay for the buffet
dinner and South Pacific review in the evening.
Day 7 KAUAI
- THE GARDEN ISLE
The "Garden Isle" of Kauai is probably the most beautiful of
all. Hollywood even used the island as a backdrop for such films as
"King Kong", "Jurassic Park" and "South
Pacific". For a truly, unforgettable experience, soar above the
incredible Waimea Canyon, the spires and domes of the rugged Na Pali sea
cliffs or tranquil Hanalei Bay. Other excursions include the Fern
Grotto, kayaking the Hulei River, a four-wheel drive mountain adventure
and much more.
Day 8 RETURN TO MAUI

again, we bring with us a treasure of memories of the lush, tropical,
