spectacular stone monoliths which have been the scenery in hundreds of
Western movies. Continue through Oak Creek Canyon to our lodging tonight
in Flagstaff, Arizona, with dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Grand Canyon
Superlatives can't adequately describe the grandeur and majesty of
what our eyes behold today- The Grand Canyon. This morning a local guide
joins us for an 8-mile tour along the west rim to Hermit's Rest, with
views of the mule trail and thundering rapids of the Colorado River. This
afternoon we tour another 52 miles to the east which includes the Yavapi
Museum, Lipan Point, said to be the most spectacular viewpoints of the
East Rim Drive. We also view the Painted Desert with many opportunities
for photos of the canyon's panoramic views. Overnight in the Grand Canyon
National Park with time for a stroll in the area after dinner.
Day 4: Lake Powell Cruise
This morning we travel north through the Navajo Indian Reservation
enroute to Page, Arizona, for a relaxing cruise on Lake Powell. The lake
was formed by the building of the Glen Canyon Dam, making it one of
America's most scenic lakes surrounded by its towering sandstone canyon
walls. Later this afternoon we continue to our lodging for two nights at
the lodge in Zion National Park.
Day 5: Bryce and Zion Canyons
Our day begins with a drive to one of the most colorful canyons -
Bryce Canyon - with its walls and rock formations carved in iron oxide
giving red, yellow, and brown tints to the limestone. Enjoy lunch in the
park allowing plenty of time to soak in the beauty of our surroundings. We
then return to Zion National Park for a guided tour of the canyons and
stone towers of Zion National Park. The Watchman is one such tower that
looms 2,555 feet from the canyon floor. Dinner tonight is at the lodge.
Day 6: Lake Meade
We travel south this morning to Lake Meade where we board the
paddlewheeler, Desert Princess, for a narrated cruise describing the area
history and construction of Hoover Dam. This afternoon we visit Hoover Dam
