Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio & Houston ~ Available to
Groups Year Round Day 1 • Dallas & Southfork Ranch Arrival at the Philadelphia International Airport for our morning flight to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. Upon arrival, we are met by our private motorcoach and a local Texan for a driving tour of Dallas. After checking into our Dallas hotel for the next two nights, we visit the Southfork Ranch, home to the famous fictional character - J.R. Ewing of TV’s “Dallas” and enjoy our tasty Chuckwagon dinner before a tour of the ranch. Day 2 • Fort Worth This morning we arrive at Dealey Plaza in Dallas - the scene of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. We take time here to visit the Sixth Floor Exhibit, located in the former Texas School Book Depository, which details the life, death and legacy of President Kennedy. After lunch, we travel to the nearby “cowtown” of Fort Worth for a guided tour flavored with stories of famous outlaws like Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Stops are made at the Sid Richardson collection of Western Art and the Cattleman's Museum. Our tour concludes at the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards where cattle barons, cowboys, and gangsters of the 20's & 30's once walked the streets. Free time prior to dinner to browse the various western shops. At the Fort Worth Stockyards, we enjoy another Texas style dinner with lots of western atmosphere and good food. Day 3 • Longhorn Ranch We travel south to the town of Georgetown where we visit a working longhorn ranch. The Sunrise Ranch will be our host, and after our tour, we will be served lunch on the ranch. Later this afternoon we arrive in the beautiful city of San Antonio. We then check into our hotel near the famous Riverwalk where we stay three nights. Dinner tonight is on our own to explore the many fine restaurants near the hotel and along the Riverwalk. Day 4 • The Alamo This morning we visit the IMAX Theater to view their presentation, “The Price of Freedom,” a re-enactment of the events surrounding the battle at the Alamo. Then we walk across the street to the famous Spanish Mission known as the Alamo for a self-guided tour. Only a portion of this mission remains as a symbol of Texas pride and independent spirit. This afternoon, we take a guided tour of San Antonio viewing its mixture of cultures. A stop is made at the Buckhorn Hall of Horns Museum and the tour concludes at Market Square, which has operated on this site for over a century and is filled with Mexican flavor. Dinner tonight is on your own at one of the many restaurants with a return to the hotel later this evening. Day 5 • The Riverwalk Today we have a free day to stroll along the Paso del Rio, known as the Riverwalk. An optional barge ride along the winding waterway is also available. Restaurants and shops line its path through the city. This evening we gather for dinner in the Tower of Americas at Hemisphere Plaza, 750 feet above the city of San Antonio, giving a spectacular panoramic view of the evening skyline. Day 6 • Johnson Space Center We head east today to our home for two nights in Houston. Before checking in we visit the nerve center of N.A.S.A. - the Johnson Space center - filled with exhibits and equipment from the U.S. Space Program. Areas of interest include the Astronaut Training Center and Mission Control. Dinner is on our own tonight. Day 7 • Galveston This morning we take a tour of downtown Houston including driving by the Astrodome and the River Oaks area. Tour will end in the Galleria to enjoy lunch. Next, we travel to the barrier island city of Galveston, situated two miles off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. A local guide joins us as we drive along the strand - Galveston’s 19th century waterfront district. Later this afternoon, we arrive at a complex dedicated to hope therapy - Moody Gardens - where various programs are used to rehabilitate and reorient disabled and abused individuals. We will tour their Rainforest Pyramid - a 10 story glass pyramid featuring over 2,000 exotic species of plants and animals indigenous to the rain forests in Africa and South America. Farewell dinner planned for your last evening in Texas. Day 8 • Home We transfer to the Houston International Airport for our return flight home. Price Per Person: Call for information!!
