Day 1: Oak Creek Canyon
We arrive at the Phoenix Airport where we board our deluxe motorcoach
and begin an amazing tour of canyons, rock formations and spectacular
scenery with Dr. Meyer describing these formations from a creationist
viewpoint. Today we travel north to Flagstaff with stops enroute to
include Montezuma's Castle and Oak Creek Canyon. Our lodging for the
next two nights is in Flagstaff. Dinner tonight is at the hotel.
Day 2: Sunset Crater, Volcano National
Monument
A full day of sightseeing in the Flagstaff area is highlighted by visits
to Wapatki Indian Ruins, Sunset Crater volcano with its 1,000 foot high
cinder cone, and an elevated view of the Western Volcanic Field. We
return to our hotel in Flagstaff.
Day 3: Grand Canyon
Superlatives can't adequately describe the grandeur and majesty of what
our eyes behold today, the Grand Canyon. Enroute to this majestic wonder
Dr. Meyer leads a discussion of geology and ecology regarding Slate
mountain, Red mountain and the Colorado Plateau. After lunch we board
park transportation for an 8 mile tour along the west rim to Hermit's
Rest with views of the mule trail and thundering rapids of the Colorado
River. We overnight in the Grand Canyon National Park with time for a
stroll in the area after dinner.
Day 4: Northern Rim
This morning we tour another 52 miles to the east with spectacular
viewpoints of the East Rim Drive. Lunch is on our own at the Cameron
Trading Post with free time for some shopping before we continue to the
Northern Rim traveling across the Kaibab Plateau. We then travel to our
lodging near Bryce Canyon with dinner upon arrival.
Day 5: Bryce Canyon & Zion National
Park
Our day begins with a drive to one of the most colorful canyons - Bryce
Canyon with its walls and rock formations carved in iron oxide giving
red, yellow and brown tints to the limestone. After lunch we travel
south to Zion National Park with its towers and stone towers such as The
Watchman, one such tower that looms 2,555 feet from the canyon floor. We
then travel on to our lodging in Page, Arizona, with dinner at the
hotel.
Day 6: Rainbow Bridge
This morning we enjoy a cruise on Lake Powell, formed by the building of
the Glen Canyon Dam, making it one of America's most scenic lakes
surrounded by its towering sandstone canyon walls. Our highlight of the
cruise is Rainbow Bridge National Monument which is accessible by a ¼
mile walkway. After lunch we travel south to our lodging in Flagstaff
with informative commentary by Dr. Meyer along the way. Tonight we share
