Day 1: Departure
Our life-changing journey begins
this evening as we board our overnight flight to Cairo, Egypt.
Day 2: Cairo
Upon our arrival in Cairo we are
transferred to our hotel where we will spend the next two nights.
Day 3: Cairo- Pyramids and Museum
An
entire day of exploring the ancient treasures of Egypt awaits us today.
We spend time at one of the seven wonders of the world- the pyramids.
Cheops, with an original height of 496 feet, is the most colossal
pyramid ever built. Today, we will also see the Sphinx and tour the
Egyptian Museum, location of Tutankhamon's treasures and ancient
remains. Then, it's time for dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 4: Cairo to Israel
Early
today we depart Cairo and travel across the Sinai Peninsula, past the
Suez Canal and on to Israel. Our lodging this evening will be in the
coastal area of Netanya. The remainder of the day is free to walk along
the Mediterranean, have dinner and watch the sun set over the
"Great Sea."
Day 5: Caesarea & Nazareth
After breakfast, we begin with a visit to the house of Simon the Tanner
and the ancient port of Jaffa. Along the shores of the Mediterranean to
Caesarea, where Peter baptized the centurion Cornelius, see the Roman
amphitheater, aqueduct and old port. Through the Carmel mountains to
Muhrakha, we see where the prophet Elijah battled with the prophets of
Baal. The traditional Cave of Elijah is marked by the Carmelite
Monastery. See the golden domed Bahai shrine in the modern port city of
Haifa. Continue to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. Visit the church
of annunciation, Mary's Well and the grotto believed to be Joseph's
carpentry shop. Continue to the Sea of Galilee,Tiberias for a two night
stay.
Day 6: Capernaum & Mount of
Beatitudes
Following breakfast,
our morning travels will take us to Dan and Caesarea Philippi site of
Peter's Confession. View the beautiful Golan Heights, enjoy an
appropriate fish lunch before we visit Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee.
Here we will view the ancient synagogue and Peter's home. Then we travel
on to the sight of the multiplication of loaves and fishes and the Mount
of the Beatitudes where Jesus gave His famous "Sermon on the
Mount." We will also visit the ruins of ancient Capernaum.
Day 7: Dead Sea & Masada
Our
travels will take us into the Judean Wilderness along the Dead Sea (the
lowest point on earth below sea level). Time permitting, we will make a
stop at Jacob's Well, and see the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea
Scrolls were discovered. Traveling along the shoreline we will reach the
amazing mountain fortress of Masada, the site of the Jewish Zealots'
last stand during their revolt against mighty Rome. We return to
Jerusalem for dinner and lodging for the next 4 nights.
Day 8: Around Jerusalem
Our sightseeing of Jerusalem will begin with a visit to the Garden Tomb,
the Mt. of Olives, followed by the Garden of Gethsemene. Next we visit
the house of Caiaphas and the "Upper Room." Following lunch we
will travel to the Shrine of the Book with time to enjoy the museum,
including the Dead Sea Scrolls. Following dinner, time will be allowed
for an evening of downtown shopping.
Day 9: Garden Tomb & Temple
Mount
An early morning service at
the Garden Tomb, where Christ was laid, will be an inspiration this
morning. We continue our worship at a local church in Jerusalem. An
afternoon tour will include a visit to Mt. Moriah (the Temple Mount) and
the Dome of the Rock, the Temple Institute as well as to the Western
Wall, the only remaining portion of the Second Temple. Some choose to
have an evening service at the hotel.
Day 10: Bethlehem, Old City, Free
Time
We begin our day with the
town of Bethlehem, the birthplace of our King and then a stop in Bethany
to visit the tomb of Lazarus. Returning to Jerusalem, we will take a
walking tour of the Old City, Via Dolorosa, a view of Mt. Calvary from
atop the city walls, and then free time for shopping in the old
marketplace.
Day 11: Homeward
An
early morning check-out and transfer to the airport is required for the
flight back to the USA. We will arrive by late afternoon
