Day 1: Depart for Ireland
We begin our adventure to the Emerald Isle with an overnight flight departing from Chicago O’Hare and arriving in Dublin, Ireland. Sit back, rest and enjoy the in-flight service.
Day 2: Welcome to the Emerald Isle & Dublin City (B, D)
In Dublin, we meet our Pilgrim Tour guide who will help transfer us to our city center hotel to check in. The remainder of the day will be free to rest or explore downtown Dublin on
our own. Enjoy an Irish welcome dinner together in the evening.
Day 3: Blarney Castle & Kerry (B, D)
After breakfast we depart for County Kerry. En route we visit the town of Blarney for a visit to Blarney Castle and its magical Kissing Stone. We’ll take some time to enjoy shopping at Blarney Woollen Mills, the largest quality craft shop in Ireland. We’ll continue on to the town of Killarney and check into our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Ring of Kerry (B)
We’ll start the morning with a full Irish breakfast before touring the Ring of Kerry which is the most famous and panoramic route in Ireland. We’ll take in spectacular scenery including mountains, peat bogs, lakes and magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll visit Muckross House & Gardens, a nineteenth century Victorian mansion built by the Herbert Family. Surrounded by beautiful
gardens, in the heart of Killarney National Park, it is one of the prettiest residences in Ireland. We’ll return to our Killarney hotel.
Day 5: Cliffs of Moher, Burren Region & Limerick (B)
After breakfast, we travel north to Tarbert and take a short ferry ride across the mouth of the River Shannon to land at the village of Killimer in County Clare. We make our way to the Cliffs of Moher. These majestic cliffs rise over 600 feet from the Atlantic Ocean and extend for over four miles. This afternoon we tour the unique Burren Region. “Burren” means “large stones” and its name perfectly describes the impressive landscape. We will explore this history-rich area which includes countless castles and monastic ruins before we continue on to our hotel in Limerick. This evening you may want to enjoy an unforgettable evening in the splendor of the magnificent Bunratty castle with an optional Medieval Banquet for $65 per person.
Day 6: Galway City & Lough Corrib Cruise (B)
After breakfast we travel to Galway and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city. Our visit begins at Galway’s modern Cathedral. Built between 1958 and 1965, it is one of the largest and most impressive buildings in Galway City. Next we enjoy a cruise of the Lough Corrib, sailing from the heart of the city along the famous Steamers Line, which is the lakes traditional trade route. Passengers will enjoy the guided commentary as they journey along the majestic River Corrib onto the lake. Get your cameras ready for wonderful views of the historic monuments and scenery; one of the most spectacular waterways in Ireland. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore at your leisure. We will stay overnight at our hotel in the Galway area.
Day 7: Connemara (B, D)
Enjoy a full Irish breakfast before we spend the day traveling through the beautiful Connemara Region, a land of lakes, rivers, bogs, mountains and small villages where Gaelic is still the spoken language. It is without a doubt the wildest and the most romantic part of Ireland and a real paradise for nature lovers. Next, we’ll enjoy a visit to Kylemore Abbey and take in the neo-gothic architecture, including its miniature cathedral, known locally as the Gothic church. Afterwards, we return to our Galway hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8: Galway & Dublin City (B)
After a full Irish breakfast, we depart Galway this morning and travel to Dublin via Clonmacnoise. Situated on the eastern banks of the Shannon River, and dating to the sixth century Clonmacnoise boasts the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches (10th-13th century), two round towers, three high crosses and the largest collection of early Christian grave slabs in Western Europe. We continue to Dublin and enjoy a guided tour which includes O’Connell Street, Trinity College and the Book of Kells. We’ll view Dublin Castle and the two Anglican Cathedrals. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, perfect for any last minute shopping. This evening you may want to enjoy an optional night of entertainment at Taylors Three Rock Pub for $65 per person. This is a lively pub located in Rathfarnham, 30 minutes from Dublin City Centre. It is a fine restaurant with excellent Irish music and dance. We will
stay overnight at our hotel in Dublin City.
Day 9: Farewell (B)
Enjoy a final Irish breakfast before we transfer to Dublin Airport for your return flight home.
