Day 1: Departure
We board our overnight flight at Newark airport, heading for Palermo via
Alitalia Airline.
Day 2: Palermo
We arrive in Palermo today and transfer to our hotel. This afternoon is
free for leisure before our welcome dinner at our hotel in Palermo this
evening.
Day 3: Palermo, Punic Solento, Bagheria
and Cefalu
After breakfast, we will visit the Archaelogical Museum and the Oratorio
of Santa Zita. Afterwards, we drive to Monreale Romanesque Cathedral
with its superb mosaics. We still have time to visit the Palatine Chapel
before dinner. Dinner and overnight in Palermo.
Day 4: Palermo - Bagheria
We start our day today with a visit to the church of Maturana before
seeing San Cataldo's Church of Vespers. We will see the settlement of
Solunto, then continue to the Baroque Villa of Palagonia Bagheria.
Later, we will head for Cefalu to tour the Cathedral. Dinner and
overnight in Palermo.
Day 5: Palermo - Agrigento
A busy day is planned for us as we depart for Taormina. We will visit
Segesta on the way in order to see the Doric Temple and Amphitheater.
Then, we continue to Agrigento and the Valley of Temples. We still have
time to visit the Greek Temples of Juno, Hercules, and Zeus before we
have dinner. Overnight Taormina.
Day 6: Enna - Siracusa
After breakfast, we will visit the Villa Romana Del Casale. A visit to
the castle of Euryalus proves an interesting visit. This castle was once
the home of Archimedes. We will then see the Arethsua Fountain.
Afterwards, we can visit the Greek Theater and the Roman Amphitheater.
Dinner and overnight in Taormina.
Day 7: Messina - Pompeii - Sorrento
Our day today begins with a drive to Messina. We will cross the Strait
and tour Reggio Calabria before visiting Lucania, Pompeii in the first
century B.C. Dinner and overnight in Sorrento.
Day 8: The Ruins of Pompeii
This morning, we will enter Pompeii through the Porta Marina and a short
walk will take the group to the Basilica of Justice. We will head for
the temple of Apollo and finally the Temple of Jupiter. We can also
visit the Foro Trianguolo, with its small Dorie temple. We will enter
the Teatro Grande, the Gladiator Barracks and the Odeon. Our last stop
of the day is at the Palestra. Dinner and overnight in Sorrento.
Day 9: The Imperial Rome
We enjoy a full day's visit of the Imperial Rome today, beginning with a
tour of the Piazza Venezia. We will also tour the Via Dei Fori Imperiali.
A panoramic view of the forum and Capitoline Hill makes for a wondrous
sight. Afterwards, we start out for the coliseum via Ostience. We will
also see the Collo Oppio and the church of St. Peter. Dinner and
overnight in Rome.
Day 10: Return to the USA
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our return flight to the
United States.

Day 10: Rome
After breakfast, we will tour Via Cavour, Piazza Della Repubblica, Via
Bissolati, Via Veneto, Palazzo Margherita, the Aurelian Walls, Villa
Borghese Gardens, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Navona and Castle St. Angelo.
Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 11: Rome
Today is free for leisure. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 12: Vatican City
After breakfast, we will tour the Vatican. We will see the Sistine
Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and Castle Saint Angelo. We will finish our
day by having a sightseeing tour of the Roman countryside and dinner in
a local restaurant before overnighting in Rome.
Day 13: Return to the US
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight back to the
US.
