This morning enjoy an Amsterdam Orientation Tour before
going north to Limmen to visit Hortus Buborum, which
contains rare species of flowering bulbs and a unique collection
of more than 100 varieties of tulips, some of them capable of
being traced back to the 17th and 18th centuries. See how these
tulips turn the countryside into a magnificent patchwork quilt.
This afternoon cruise the Vecht River passing many of the
Netherlands' finest manor homes. End the day at the private
garden of Mr. and Mrs. Hobijn. (B)

May 8 FLORIADE:
This is a day to savor. Taking place only once every 10 years,
this horticultural extravaganza celebrates Dutch horticulture
from vegetables and fruits to mushrooms, bulbs, flowers, plants,
trees, bushes and shrubs. Other countries also exhibit including
the Phillipines, India, Brazil, Kenya, Germany and Hungary. (B)

FRIDAY,
May 10 AMSTERDAM:
This
morning see the world's largest flower market, the Aalsmeer
Flower Auction in its full glory. Here flowers and plants
are auctioned and then packaged for distribution to all corners
of the world. Then drive by vast multi-colored bulbfields on the
way to the Keukenhof Exhibition, the world renowned
display garden located on a 70-acre estate. Each year more than
six million tulip, daffodil and hyacinth bulbs are planted.
Stroll through the gardens, view the displays in the two exhibit
halls and walk up to the windmill for a magnificent look at the
brilliant kaleidoscope of colors in the bulbfields that seem to
stretch forever. Return to your hotel. (B)
