Day 1:
Arrive Bergen
Transfer from Bergen Flesland Airport or Coastal Express quay to
hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Clarion Hotel Admiral,
a first class hotel with a unique location, overlooking the
Bryggen Harbour in the very center of Bergen.
Day 2: Bergen, Balestrand
After our buffet breakfast, start your panoramic tour of Bergen,
including a visit to the popular Fish and Flower Market, the
famous Bryggen Harbour with its gabled packhouses, and the old
Hanseatic Quarter. You will also ride on the funicular to
Mt. Floien, for the best views of the city and fjords way below.
Lunch at Bryggeloftet Restaurant, close to the harbour.
After lunch departure from Bergen, depart for the town of Voss.
Stop to view the enchanting Tvindefoss Waterfall, believed to be
the source of eternal youth. Continue by coach across the
Vika Mountains to Vangsnes for the short ferry crossing to the
beautiful resort of Balestrand. Dinner and accommodation
at Kvikne's Hotel, one of Norway's finest hotels, superbly
located in private grounds on the banks of the fjord and
surrounded by mountains.
Day 3: Balestrand, a day in the
fjords
Your two nights stay in Balestrand enables you to spend a whole
day relaxing and enjoying the delights of the fjords. The
day starts with a traditional Norwegian buffet breakfast in the
hotel's elegant dining room. After breakfast, depart by
coach to Slinde, where you'll board the sightseeing boat M/S
Elisabeth. On board you will enjoy a 2+ hour cruise along
the Sogn Fjord, the longest and deepest fjord in the world.
From the sun deck or the comfortable lounge, you can enjoy the
spectacular scenery of cascading waterfalls, sheer mountain
cliffs, snow-clad peaks and a variety of wildlife. Cruise
along the narrow and winding Naeroy Fjord to disembark in the
village of Gudvangen. Lunch in Gudvangen. After
lunch ascend by coach to Stalheim for breathtaking views of the
surrounding mountain peaks and Stalheim Canyon. The tour
continues via the picturesque villages of Flam and Aurland,
passing through the newly constructed Laerdals tunnel towards
the town of Sogndal. Drive along the beautiful northern
shore of the Sogn Fjord, crossing the fjord once more by ferry
from Lella to Dragsvik, to arrive back in Balestrand by late
afternoon.
Day 4: Balestrand, Geiranger
After breakfast, depart from the hotel by ferry for a one hour
cruise along the fjord to Fjaerland. Continue by coach
along the scenic route, passing under the Jostedal Glacier, the
largest in Europe, to the village of Skei. Descend to the
beautiful Nord Fjord, making a detour at Olden to visit the
world-famous Briksdal Glacier. The journey up to the
glacier will be made in open cars to give you the best of views.
Afterwards a typical Norwegian lunch will be served in sight of
the glacier. During the afternoon the tour continues via
Loen and Stryn, to the picturesque village of Helleslyt.
From here you go on board the ferry for the one hour's cruise
along the spectacular Geiranger Fjord, possibly the most
impressive of all the Norwegian fjords. During the cruise
you will pass close by some magnificent waterfalls, such as the
Bridal Veil and the Seven Sisters. Dinner and
accommodation at the excellent Union Hotel, overlooking the
Geiranger Fjord.
Day 5: Geiranger, Oslo
Ascend the famous Serpentine Road with amazing views of the fjord
below, before crossing the rugged Grotli Mountains to the
village of Lom, famous for its 14th century stave church.
The tour continues alongside Lake Vaga to Otta, then descends
the wonderful Gudbrands Valley to the town of Lillehammer.
Stop for lunch at Rica Victoria Hotel. After lunch visit
the popular Olympia Park, before continuing the journey along
the banks of Lake Mjesa, the largest in Norway, arriving in the
Norwegian capital during the early evening. Dinner and
accommodation at Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel, situated in the
center of Oslo with panoramic views of the city and the Oslo
Fjord.
Day 6: Oslo, departure for US
Buffet breakfast at your hotel, followed by transfer to Olslo
Gardermoen Airport in connection with your flight home.
