Day 1: Depart for Warsaw
Overnight transatlantic flight to Warsaw. 

Day 2: Arrive in Warsaw
Arrival and transfer to your room at the Novotel Centrum Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Meet the rest of the group at 6:00 PM in the hotel lobby for the welcome dinner and folklore show. (D)

Day 3: Warsaw City Tour
Highlights of your half-day tour include the beautiful Old Town quarter, Old Market Square, the Barbican and medieval defense walls. Continue to the Jewish Ghetto Memorial, dedicated to the thousands of lives taken by Nazis. Then we drive along the Royal Route, important for its place in Polish history. Next stop, Lazienki Park and its evocative sculpture of Chopin surrounded by rose bushes. In the afternoon you will visit the Royal Castle, ornate former residence of Polish kings. (B,L)

Day 4: Zakopane, Jasna Gora Monastery & Black Madonna
After breakfast, depart for Zakopane. En route visit the Jasna Gora monastery and shrine where the sacred portrait of the Black Madonna is venerated. Lunch in Czestochowa. Continue to Zakopane, the alpine mountain resort and cultural center. (N,B,L)

Day 5: Tatra Mountains, Mt. Gubalowka, Oswiecim & Auschwitz
Sightseeing of Zakopane and its charming wooden architecture. Breathtaking views of the Tatra Mountains are yours after taking a cable car to the top of Mt. Gubalowka. After lunch, depart for Krakow via Oswiecim-Auschwitz, site of the dreadful Nazi death camp, now a martyrdom museum. (B,L)

Day 6: Wawel Hill, Old Town, St. Mary's Church & Wieliczka Salt Mine
Your morning city tour includes the fortified castle and cathedral resting atop Wawel Hill, Old Town, St. Mary's Church and the Cloth Hall. Visit the 700-year-old Wieliczka Salt Mine, an unforgettable three miles of underground chambers, caves, chapels and statues all sculptured from salt. Dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 7: Warsaw
Morning departure for Warsaw. After lunch, the rest of the day is free for last-minute shopping or individual pursuits. Dinner on your own. (If you want to explore the southern part of Poland separately, the last overnight will be deducted from the total price.) (B,L)

Day 8: Departure Home
Transfer to the airport for your homeward flight. (B)
