Day 1: Departure
Our flight takes off from Dulles this evening as we begin our travel to England and France.

Day 2: London
Arriving in London mid-morning we start on a city tour. Some of the places we will visit include the Tower of London, home of the Crown Jewels, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, the master piece of Sir Christopher Wren. There is so much we will see in this capital city of England. After a day of travel and touring we check into our hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Shakespeare, Oxford, & Dinner Theatre
Stratford and Oxford are the destinations of the day. Here we visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, a half timbered house where the author of the most potent lines in the language was born. Anne Hathaway’s romantic thatched cottage is where William wooed his beloved Anne and future wife. The grounds contain a herb-scented garden, orchard and Shakespeare tree garden. In Oxford we see England’s oldest University and smallest Cathedral. We have opportunity to tour one of the many colleges located here. Upon return to London we have time to freshen up before spending the evening at Talk of London, a theatre-restaurant.

Day 4: Stonehenge, Bath & Theatre
Perhaps we can discover the mystery of ages past on our visit to the pre-historic monument of Stonehenge. This 4000 year old formation has sent visitors into flights of fancy as they try to unravel the purpose. Is it an astronomical observatory or a sanctuary of a sun-worshipping cult, or maybe a bit of both? Our next visit is not as perplexing as we visit Bath. Here the grace and elegance of the 18th century combines with a long, varied past. This is the location of famous Roman Baths, numerous elegant street vistas, and unique terrace houses. We return to our hotel for dinner and later attend a West End Theatre production.

Day 5: Eurostar to Paris
After breakfast we transfer to the Eurostar terminal. The high speed passenger train will have us in Paris in only 3 hours. We are transported to our hotel and have time to relax or explore on our own. Dinner at our hotel this evening.

Day 6: Versailles
This morning we tour the Palace and Gardens of Versailles. This retreat of French royalty offers sumptuous reception rooms, intriguing Hall of Mirrors and famous fountains and formal gardens. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to have a Parisian experience. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Around Paris
A morning of sightseeing in Paris is planned. We see such sights a Champs Elyseis, Opera, Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral and of course the Eiffel Tower. We have lunch at the Eiffel Tower. Afternoon is touring in the northern district of Paris, Montmartre. Located on the Right Bank the area is noted for its nightlife and associations with artists such as Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautric and Utrello. The evening is free to experience famous French cuisine on your own.

Day 8: Loire Valley Vineyards
Today we visit the Loire Valley, famous for it vineyards and Renaissance Chateaux. We drive through this fertile valley and tour two of the fabled chateaux, Chambord-the largest in the region, and Chenonceau-the fairytale chateau. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 9: Monet House & Gardens
Morning sightseeing to the home of Claude Monet located in Giverny. Here we visit the house and gardens that provided the inspiration for Monet’s “Water Lily” paintings. The afternoon is at leisure for last minute shopping, sightseeing or packing. This evening we say a grand farewell to the city of Paris with an evening tour and cruise on the Seine River.

Day 10: Au Revoir
We bid “Au Revoir” to France and fly back to the US.
