DAY 6: ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
Today we arrive in St. Petersburg, Russia, where we will be docked for the next two days. Founded by the Russian Tsar, Peter the Great, St. Petersburg has for centuries been the cultural center of Russia, with its spectacular architecture, Tchaikovsky operas and the famous Kirov ballet. Today we will enjoy a full day of sightseeing when we participate in the tour appropriately called “The Imperial St. Petersburg”. We travel towards the city of Peterhof, also known as the Russian Versailles. Here we will visit The Grand Palace, built by Peter the Great to compete with the Palace of Versailles in France. After our visit to Peterhof, we return to St. Petersburg via hydrofoil crossing the Gulf of Finland and arriving at the Island of Vasilyevsky, where we will visit the Fort of St. Peter and St. Paul. Inside this Fort, we will see the cathedral of the same name where we will admire its marble columns, chandeliers and gilded walls. In this Cathedral rest the remains of most of the Russian Czars and their empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family, whose remains were finally brought here in 1998.

DAY 7: ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
Again this morning we begin the day with a full day of excursion to visit the historic city of Pushkin, home to the fabulous Catherine’s Palace, the summer residence of the Russian Czars. This palace ranks as one of the masterpieces of the world of art. We will view the Picture Gallery, a formal apartment with an area of 100 M2, depicting portraits of several Russian Tzarinas. We will also visit the world famous Amber Room, a luxurious room of Peter the Great, which consists of a conglomerate of wall panels and furniture made of amber. This room, which took more than 10 years to build, covered an area of more than 55 square meters and contained over 6 tons (13,000 Lbs.) of amber, whose price was 12 times more expensive than gold. (Amber is fossilized tree resin (not sap), which has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times). This room was a gift from Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia presented to Peter the Great; and with that act cemented a Prussian-Russian diplomatic alliance. We return to St. Petersburg to visit the Hermitage Museum. This is the biggest art museum of Russia and the most prestigious in the world. The museum complex consists of six buildings, among which is The Winter Palace, official residence of the former Russian Czars.

DAY 8: HELSINKI, FINLAND
Our cruise docks this morning in Helsinki, Finland. Welcome to Scandinavia’s “White City of the North,” a city defined more by its cool people and Art Nouveau architecture than its chilly climate. Helsinki is a classic sea-city, with a dramatic coastline colored by bays and inlets. Optional Shore Excursion: If you are interested, please inquire about some of the optional shore excursions that the cruise line has to offer.

DAY 9: STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
Today our ship docks in Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm is laced by an ingenious network of waterways and bridges strung between a freshwater lake and the Baltic Sea. Stockholm is easily seen on foot or by waterway cruise. Its gabled old townhouses peer over cobblestone streets, while its magnificent 17th-century palace sits watching over the harbor.
