Day 1 & 2: DEPART HOUSTON
We begin our adventure by departing late this evening from Houston for
Hanoi which is the capital city of Vietnam. We will enjoy various
movies and meals while in flight.
Day 3: ARRIVE IN HANOI- (L, D)
Because we cross the International Date Line, we arrive appear to loose
a day. Upon our mid morning arrival
in Hanoi our Pilgrim Tours escort will meet our group and enjoy a
half-day city tour of Vietnam's capital city. Hanoi is a unique city
with tree-lined boulevards, old-colonial architecture, pretty lakes and
ancient temples. The city tour will comprise well of the Temple of
Literature and the Lake of the Restored Sword. A cycle tour in the Old
Quarter will complete your tour with a mid afternoon transfer to our
hotel for a few hours to rest and relax before we meet this evening as a
group for dinner and a special Water Puppets Show.
Day 4: HALONG-HANOI
(B, L, D)
An early morning departure begins our day as we travel to Halong Bay, a
World Heritage with thousands of limestone and Dolomite Island and
islets. Stop on the way to visit Hai Duong “Green bean cake town” or
Ceramic at Dong Trieu. Upon arrival in Halong take a sailing boat to
cruise the splendid bay to visit its breathtaking seascape created by
the rocky islands and emerald calm water, with stopovers to visit the
grottoes inside islands and swimming. A lunch of fresh seafood will be
arranged on board. We return to Hanoi late this afternoon for our
dinner and an early retreat for a restful nights sleep.
Day 5: HANOI – HUE
(B/L/D)
We fly to Hue early this arriving in time for a full day tour to the
Demilitarization Zone and Vietnam War sites. We will visit the famous
war tunnels, Quang Tri Citadel and Truong Son National Cemetery along
with many other interesting stops along the way. We will return to Hue
this evening for our dinner and overnight.
Day 6: HUE-SAIGON
(B, L, D)
We are transferred to the Hue airport for our flight to Saigon. Upon
our arrival in Saigon, visit the historic Reunification Palace that
witnessed the end of the 2nd Indochinese War in 1975, explore
bustling China Town, Cho Lon (Binh Tay market) and Thien Hau pagoda. Our
dinner and overnight will be in Saigon.
Day 7: SAIGON - MEKONG
DELTA (B/L/D)
Explore the life on the Mekong Delta by over landing to Vinh Long. We
will take a boat from here to float along the narrow waterways to
witness the daily rituals of the exciting river life with floating
market full of fresh fruits and river products. Take stops at several
family-operated cottage industries specializing in the production of
fish sauce, tofu and rice paper. We will return to
Saigon for a visit to the
War Remnants Museum and our dinner and overnight.
Day 8: SAIGON - TAY
NINH - CU CHI - SAI GON (B/L/D)
Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to
Tay Ninh Province, the birthplace of CAO DAI, a local sect of Buddhism,
and join a memorable noon daily ceremony of the Caodai followers. After
lunchtime back to a historic site of the Vietnam War to visit Cu Chi
Tunnels, an incredible underground network constructed by the local
people and guerillas to include an underground network of living areas,
hospitals, command centers and factories several stories deep all
designed to survive the war against the American explosive attacks.
Back for dinner and overnight in Saigon.
Day 9: SAIGON –
SIEM REAP (B/L/D)
We transfer to the Tan Son Nhat Airport to fly from Saigon to Siem
Reap. Upon your arrival in Siem Reap enjoy a transfer to the hotel for
lunch. The afternoon will consist of a visit to the ancient city of
Angkor Thom: the Bayon temple, the Baphuan, the Elephant Terrace and the
Terrace of the Leper King. View the sunset at Angkor Wat. We will have
a special dinner with Apsara traditional dance and our overnight will be
in Siem Reap.
Day 10: ANGKOR WAT
(B/L/D)
After breakfast, visit the Ta Prohm temple which is a wonderful
combination of human genius and natural beauty. Giant trees have grown
there for centuries. Visit Ta keo, "Jewel of Crystal" is dedicated to
the Hindu God Shiva and was erected at the end of the 10th century.
Continue to visit the Thommanon, the Chau Say temples and the natural
lake of Sras Srang. After our lunch we visit Angkor Wat. The founder
was Suryavarman II who reined Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the
five towers in the 12th century and dedicated them to the Hindu God
Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined
spaces, alleys and ditches and is an ancient masterpiece of
architectural design and construction. Our dinner and overnight will be
in Siem Reap.
Day 11: SIEM REAP-
BANGKOK (B, L, D)
We depart Siem Reap this morning for a flight to Bangkok. Upon our
arrival in Bangkok we will enjoy an afternoon tour to include the
breathtaking Grand Palace with its symbolic and ceremonial hear of the
Kingdom and elaborate Thai style architecture as well as other Bangkok
highlights. Enjoy a special farewell dinner this evening and time to
discuss the highlights of your tour to Indochina.
Day 12: RETURN TO
HOUSTON
We are transferred to the Bangkok airport for our return flight to the
USA. We will enjoy various meals and movies while in flight.
