Day
1 - Departure
Depart JFK or Washington D.C. for your overnight flight to Johannesburg
Day
2 – Johannesburg
Upon arrival in
Johannesburg, you’ll enjoy a private transfer from the Johannesburg
International Airport to the exclusive Sandton Sun Inter-Continental.
Located in the center of Johannesburg’s premier residential and
business district, the Sandton Sun Inter-Continental has a direct link
to Sandton City, Johannesburg’s exclusive shopping complex.
After you’ve checked in, you’ll be whisked away to a bygone era in
Gold Reef City, a replica of old-time Johannesburg. Travel back in
time as you take a penny farthing ride or stroll through the houses of
old. Later we’ll catch a miners’ dancing performance and watch
a gold pouring demonstration. After the adventure, we’ll head
back to our hotel to unwind or possibly check out the nightlife of
Johannesburg.

Day
3 - Mpumalanga
This morning, after our
delicious breakfast, we’ll depart cosmopolitan Johannesburg and head
toward the spectacular province of Mpumalanga. In traveling via Long Tom
pass’ meandering stretches mountain roads, and Lone Creek falls, which
is surrounded by a small indigenous forest, we’ll arrive at our
elegant hideaway thirsting for new adventures. Tonight we’ll
enjoy the accommodations of the Blue Mountain Lodge, a fine example of
nature, luxury and fantasy woven into one magical lodge, miles away from
any human sounds. Set among 200 hectares of natural bush, forest
and farmland, this Victorian styled lodge is in itself, a work of
beauty.

4 - Pilgrim's Rest, Sabi Sabi – Kruger Park
Today we’ll depart and travel via Pilgrim’s Rest, a quaint, historic
mining village alive with mystery and romance. Set among the
rolling hills dotted with flowers, Pilgrim’s Rest is a scenic
treasure. On our way to the famous private game lodge Sabi Sabi,
we travel via the Panoramic Route and see the magnificent Blyde River
Canyon. Take time to snap a few shots of the 3rd
largest canyon in the world, and its intriguing rock formations called
the “three rondavels.” Lush green vegetation lies low in the
valleys of this impressive attestation to Nature’s beauty and
creativity. Next we’ll travel to the awesome wonders of
Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and Lisbon Falls, all of which
will surely take your breath away. We’ll arrive at Sabi Sabi in
time for afternoon tea and an evening game drive in an open safari land
rover complete with experienced guide and tracker. For the past
20yrs Sabi Sabi has been building a name for itself with a sophisticated
lodge, high ecotourism ideals, and a slew of awards naming it the best
lodge in southern Africa. We’ll return to this masterpiece
accommodation in time for a delicious dinner served outside in a
traditional African boma underneath the velvet sky alive with twinkling
stars.

Day
5 - Kruger National Park
After a late brunch at Sabi
Sabi, we’re off to Kruger National Park for game viewing.
Established in 1898, this National Park of nearly 2 million hectares is
unrivalled in the diversity of its animal life. Tonight we’ll
hang our hats at the beautiful Malelane Sun Inter-Continental.
Located in the lush foothills of the Klein Drakensberg Mountains,
Malelane provides the last word in style and comfort while the untamed
Africa of Kruger National Park prowls just a stone’s throw away. The
baobab trees stand guard at Malelane’s thatched entrance porch,
leading past a gurgling waterfall and into the cool reception area and
lounge. The décor is vibrantly African, with statues, carvings and wall
hangings drawn together from all over the continent to create a lively
gallery of African art.

Day
6 – Swaziland
This morning after we leave
the hotel, we’ll travel via the western slopes of Komatipoort and
cross over to Eastern Swaziland while riding along the Lebombo
Mountains. The Lebomobo Mountains, whose name is derived
from the Zulu word for “big nose,” is comprised of volcanic rocks
and makes for some spectacular scenery. In leaving Swaziland,
we’ll proceed to the Phinda Game Reserve just in time for some
refreshing afternoon tea and a game drive in an open safari vehicle.
With our experienced rangers and trackers, we’ll spend the afternoon
hours searching for a thrilling glimpse of game in their natural
habitat. We’ll return to the lodge for dinner and savor our meal
in a traditional African boma. The prestigious Phinda Game Reserve
is a luxury accommodation working to provide wildlife restoration within
Africa.

Day
7 - White Rhinos and 5 Star Beaches
Early this morning we’ll
take a game drive in an open safari vehicle to view some more buffaloes,
white rhinos, elephants, giraffes, impalas, zebras, and
wildebeests. Lions, leopards, cheetahs and hippos will be sought
as well. After breakfast, we’ll continue on to visit Hluhluwe,
South Africa’s oldest game reserve, where you’ll be dropped off at
your hotel, the Beverly Hills Inter-Continental. With everything
close at hand, the Beverly Hill Inter-Continental, offers superb luxury
and a fantastic location overlooking miles and miles of unspoiled beach
along the rustling Indian Ocean.

8 – Delightful Durban
This morning the sights and
smells of Durban will come alive as your have an opportunity to tour the
city. You’ll be transferred to the airport for your flt to Port
Elizabeth. Once in Port
Elizabeth, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.
The rest of the afternoon/evening is yours to spend at leisure.

9 - Garden Route, Knysna
After leaving the
“Friendly City” of Durban, we’ll head to the dense, natural rain
forests of Tsitsikamma National Park. We’ll drive through the
stunning passes of Bloukrans and Groot River to the
Millionaire’s Playground of Plettenberg Bay for a short stop.
Known as the “Jewel of the Garden Route,” Plettenberg Bay is a
special area. More than a village - but less than a city- this bay
offers hospitality, tranquility and beauty. We’ll continue on
toward the Garden of Eden, a quaint little town known for its Oyster
crops and located on the protected Knysna Lagoon. Finally, we’ll
stop for the day in Knysna, a beacon of natural beauty surrounded by
tranquil lakes, glistening beaches, and hushed forests.
Tonight, we’ll sleep in the elaborate Belvidere Mansion.

Day
10 – Featherbed Nature Reserve
After breakfast, we’ll depart for Knysna. Here, we’ll enjoy a
leisurely boat ride to the Featherbed Nature Reserve where rare
wildlife, like the Knysna Loerie and the Blue Duiker (antelope spieces),
and Black African Oyster Catchers dwell. Featherbed is a unique
private reserve, comprised of 150 hectares, which encompasses the whole
western head of Knysna. We’ll also have a chance to stretch our
legs while finding the perfect place to view the magnificent and
pristine lagoon. The afternoon is free for you to relax or spend
some time in downtown Knysna.

DAY
11 - Cango Caves, Rosenhof Country Lodge
Our action-packed day begins with a scenic drive through Wilderness to
Mossel Bay where Europeans first met the indigenous African people.
Here, we’ll take time to visit the old “Post Office Tree,” the
site of the first post office in S. Africa. We’ll continue
over Robinson Pass covered with fynbos vegetation and experience a
climatic change in entering the semi-desert area of Klein Karoo.
We’ll arrive in Oudtshoorn, the 'Ostrich City' and visit the
spectacular Cango Caves, the longest sequence of underground caves in
the world. Boasting some of the largest stalagmite formations known to
man, the Cango Caves is truly a natural wonder. Time
permitting, we’ll visit a crocodile & cheetah ranch
(optional activity) to view cheetahs, lions and leopards from an
elevated catwalk. Next, we’ll continue on to visit one of
the infamous ostrich farms of Oudtshoorn for an up close and personal
look at these strange and exotic birds. We’ll overnight today at
the Rosenhof Country Lodge, a beautifully restored Victorian Mansion
complete with impeccably manicured grounds abounding with sweet smelling
flowers.

DAY
12 - Spectacular Scenery, Cape Town Deluxe
After breakfast today, we’ll depart Oudtshoorn and travel through the
narrow valley of Klein Karoo. Overshadowed by mountains to the
north and south, the Klein Karoo is semi-desert area broken by lush
river valleys and meandering streams. We’ll stop and visit
charming towns of Calitzdorp and Barrydale for an unspoiled look at
South Africa’s magnificent flora, fauna, and geological formations.
We’ll depart Oudtshoorn through the scenic vineyards and hot springs
of Montagu and Robertson and head to Worcester, situated in the heart of
Breede River Valley. Next we’ll travel over the dizzying heights of Du
Toit's Kloof Pass and to arrive in the dazzling waterfront city of Cape
Town. Our hotel, the Table Bay Hotel, is set on the historic
waterfront area and has achieved status as one of the Leading Hotel of
the World. With a prime location, panoramic views, superb
hospitality, and a décor that successfully blends the antique with the
modern, the Table Bay Hotel is a symbol of excellence.

13 - Cape Town
This morning we’ll embark on a full day Cape Highlights tour.
Starting off at Camps Bay, we’ll travel via the quaint fishing village
of Hout Bay and Chapman's Peak. At the Cape of Good Hope Reserve,
we’ll have a chance to get a first hand look at the rare and exotic
flora and fauna of the Cape. After some time to take in the stunning
view from this vantage point, we’ll continue towards Simon’s Town
and Muizenberg, where the beach appears to be never-ending. Later in the
afternoon, we’ll enjoy some of South Africa’s fine wines at a local
vineyard before we head back to our hotel through the University town of
Stellenbosch. The evening is yours to join the crowd at the
bustling waterfront to do some last minute shopping.

Day
14 – Cape Town
For our last day in Cape Town we’ll take an early morning tour of the
famous Table Mountain where you can view the cape and the city in all
its magnificence. Descending to explore the city personally,
we’ll spend time at the SA Museum, the Malay Quarter and enjoy a
harbor walk taking us to the Castle and Greenmarket Square Fleamarket.
The afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

15 – Depart for Home
Today is at your leisure - a
chance to do some last minute sightseeing or shopping.
In the late afternoon you’re private transfer will take you to
Cape Town Intl Airport and you’ll depart for home and the US.
Day 16 – Home
Today you’ll arrive back to the US (JFK/Atlanta) after your fantastic
and memorable trip of the colorful and exciting nation of South Africa.
