Washington DC, Annapolis,
Williamsburg
& Monticello |
April 5-10, 2010
Day 1: Arlington
Travel to Washington DC. Sightseeing of our nation's capitol
begins with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, the John F.
Kennedy Tomb and an outside glimpse of the home of Robert E. Lee. View the Changing of the Guard of the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier and the new Women in Military Service Memorial before we
check into our lodging nearby. (4 nights)
Day 2: Washington, DC Touring
History is being made every day in Washington, DC. With a Christian
history guide we will visit the Capitol Building where laws are
created. On Capitol Hill we'll visit the Library of Congress and the
Supreme Court. See the stirring Jefferson, Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, the
FDR Memorials and the White House in a driving tour. The afternoon is
yours to freely explore the Smithsonian with its treasury of American
history.
Day 3: Washington, DC Touring
Today’s sights include a stop at the World War II Memorial, a tour of Ford Theatre, the Peterson House where
Lincoln died, Abraham Lincoln’s Church and the Holocaust Museum. Following dinner, an evening Illumination Tour of the
memorials, monuments and government buildings tops off our exiting day.
Day 4: Washington Cathedral, Mount Vernon & National Archives
This morning we visit the Washington
Cathedral followed by a tour of the National Archives. After free time and lunch in
Old Town Alexandria we visit Mount Vernon, the Potomac River estate of George and
Martha Washington. A walking tour of the home and grounds provides a
step back in time.
Day 5: Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living history museum in the
country and one of America's most popular attractions. Stroll streets
dating back to the 1700's. Converse with residents playing the roles of
their ancestors exactly as they did more than 200 years ago. It's an
exciting glimpse into the early days of our nation. Lodging this evening
will be in Richmond, VA. (1 night)
Day 6: Monticello
Before turning toward home we stop in Charlottetown to visit Monticello,
the magnificent home of Thomas Jefferson.
